Welcome to one and all! You may have already noticed the new top logo link, I want to urge everyone to click on that banner ad and see if you recognise any of the missing children there. I decided to replace the Lycos banner ad with something that actually could HELP someone. It won't take more than a few minutes out of your life, please check it often.

We changed the top logo again, e-mail me and let me know if you like it! We also stil have our ongoing ranking system from paintballcity.com, the form is below (click here to skip to the bottom and vote!)

Ya know, for a silly idea this has taken a whole life of it's own. And I like it! It's making things more fun for me, and it's kinda nice to know that I'm inspiring lunacy and insanity all over the globe with this project. to everyone who actually read this preface, thank you. Your letters, support, and kind words make it all worth while. This is an award winning page on top of it all! Wow, who'da thunk it?

The Origin of the Species

"Comet" started as a funny idea, partially inspired by this Calvin & Hobbes panel :

Calvin-N-Hobbes panel, showing a deer's ambush in an office.

Also, throw into the mix a small factoid as well. I'd gone to the Racine Big-Game from '93 to '95. About 50% of those times I've seen a real deer bound across the trail. (Probably the same deer...) And all the paintballers scream "DON'T SHOOT!" And all the hunters scream "SHOOT!"

I started thinking "Wouldn't it be neat if the deer shot BACK?" Well, With a month to go before the '96 Big Game 1 I decided "Why not?" and started construction.

A month of time, some flanel material, and a lot of creative energy (and some sleepless nights) and I had a deer costume. It's a lot tougher than that, but you get the idea. The materials were simple enough. It's all flannel, except the antlers which are felt. The ears are soft, and the do flop in the wind. (An annoyance...)

I put out teasers here and there about what I was doing. All I would say is "The deer shoot back in '96." And when pressed for details, all I said was "You wouln't believe me even if I told you." I think it was Kennedy who said "Tyger, you're right. I don't believe it."

We finished construction within a few days of the event. We took photos of me in it for distribution purposes (Not knowing what would happen to the costume it was preventative...) A few of those pictures can be found by following THIS LINK! It will take a while to download, but if you'd like some ideas on how the costume was created, it's worth it.

Since then the suit has remained, basically, unchanged. You're basic deer costume, actually. I've added a jersey to Comet's basic appearance with the name "Comet" and "96" on the back for the year he was created, and after using it a few times I've felt kinda naked without it (the jersey, I mean.) I've also added knee / shin guards to protect the suit. Not much, but it's something. It's allowed me to be a little more agressive, and actully start crawling again. Something I've missed for a long time. Which brings me to playing paintball and...

Playing (rein)Deer Games :

Because of the events I've been to over the last few years with "Comet", this archive is getting kinda big. And it was straining the page load a lot. So I've seperated it into this simple to follow link system. Simply click on the game to read a little about it from the "Comet" perspective. Games are in chronological order, and are dated.
